Hello, internet friends.
If you haven’t been living under a rock, you know Hurricane Irma battered the west coast of Florida. As some of you probably know, I am currently living in the Sunshine State. I’ve been here for twenty years. And yes. You guessed it. I live on the west coast. I was forced to evacuate earlier in the weekend and took refuge in my parents home. As I wrote this, I could hear the wind turning the trees sideways and the raindrops slapping against the window behind me. It wasn’t exactly a fun night, but it could have been a whole lot worse. We never lost power, and I was able to sleep through the night for the most part.
Yesterday morning I returned to my apartment. I can’t say I wasn’t scared of what I’d find. Tree branches littered all over the roadways. Interstate billboards were blown apart. But there were no down power lines. I only saw one uprooted tree. It didn’t look as terrible as the weather men predicted, but I was still nervous. To my relief, everything’s fine with my home. There’s a bit of water damage, but nothing more than that. The main thing is I’m okay. My family and friends are all okay. I’m thanking God and mother nature for sparing my city and the cities around it. I said it before. It could have been worse. It was supposed to be worse. But it wasn’t, and I’m grateful.
I’m hoping all of you are okay as well. We can rebuild homes and replace material things. We can’t replace lives. Remember that.
So that’s it, guys. I just wanted to update you all. I’m safe. I have my August Favorites on the back burner. As soon as I’m able, I’ll finish it up and upload it.
