For over ten years, the only foundation I’d reach for was bareMinerals. For a long time, I did their original powder. It was tried and true. I remember getting color matched at my local mall. Then after high school, I upgraded to the matte foundation. Every time bareMinerals came out with a new foundation, I had to try it. Some of them I loved. Some of them not so much.
I find that liquid foundation lasts long and feels lighter on my oily skin. Unfortuntely, bareMinerals wasn’t producing the kind of liquid foundation that left me singing. That’s why I went on a hunt for something better. As you all know I landed on a Maybelline foundation, but I wasn’t a hundred percent satisfied. Then bareMinerals came out with a new liquid foundation, one that was supposed to be the best yet to come. I knew I had to jump on it.
I’ve been using bareMinerals BAREPRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation SPF 20 almost every day for a few weeks now. This review is my unbias and personal opinion. All opinions given are my own. I have combination/oily skin, so please take that into consideration when reading this. Here’s my review of bareMinerals BAREPRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation SPF 20.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the pump on this product. When I read it had one, I jumped on board almost immediately. The amount of product I waste with Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation makes me want to cry. And it’s all because it doesn’t have a pump. I know it’s a cheap product, but I waste so much I feel I’m not saving any money. The product comes out so fast, I always end up pouring out more than I could ever use. With bareMinerals new foundation, I don’t have that problem.
I did knock this down just a bit because of the glass bottle. I’m sorry, but it’s super impractical to package something in glass. Especially something that’s used almost every day. While I will say it looks really pretty, the practicality brings it down for me. Sorry, bareMinerals. Would plastic have killed you? One good toss by TSA, and there goes my foundation.
I seriously adore any foundation with SPF in it. UV protection is so important. Especially somewhere as sensitive as your face. I’m not outside a whole lot, but when I am, it’s nice to know this foundation has got me covered.
I also love that it’s so light and watery. I often forget I’m wearing it. Of course, it gets extra bonus points for not sinking into my pores after only a few hours like some foundations. I’m looking at you, Too Faced. To my surprise, this foundation stays on well and holds up even better than expected. I don’t check myself in the mirror at lunchtime afraid of finding an oily mess. Even when I forget to apply primer, this foundation doesn’t fail me. And lastly, it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It’s a win win win.
One squirt is perfect for minimal coverage. Something I want in the summertime. With this foundation, a little goes a very long way. Now I’m not one to slap on a lot of foundation. I typically don’t need too much. Just something to cover my redness and acne. With that being said, this foundation is buildable. If you need something more full coverage, this can do the job.
I will say it did take me a few days to find the right tool to apply this. I almost went out to buy another beauty sponge, but I found something even better. Something I haven’t picked up in probably a year. bareMinerals Smoothing Face Brush is perfect for liquid foundations. It gets into all the dips and curves of my face, making the application a breeze. Its bristles are soft and not too dense. I can’t believe I ever stopped using this for foundation application. I found that if I work the liquid into my skin in circular motions, it blends seamlessly.
The bang for your buck on this one was a bit on the iffy side for me. After spending less than ten dollars on a foundation for the past six months, spending more than thirty dollars squeezed my pocketbook a bit. But then I took into consideration one thing: the pump. This ONE thing will make sure that no product goes to waste. In the past six months, I’ve gone through two bottles of Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation. While that might not seem like a lot, I haven’t used it much since the beginning of May. It’s simply too hot. With bareMinerals BAREPRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation SPF 20, I use a small amount no larger than a pencil eraser tip. I won’t burn through this as quickly or waste nearly as much product with the pump.
As foundations go, this one is pretty fantastic. While I’d be happier if it was a cheaper plastic bottle, I still love it. I finally found a foundation that I truly enjoy wearing. It comes with a beautiful pump. It’s got SPF 20. It blends seamlessly and lasts. I have to say, you guys. My hunt might be over. While I’ll keep trying foundations and reviewing them, I don’t think I’ll stray too far from this product.
